Valentine's Day Mixtape

6:56PM February 13, 2012

It’s February 14th, that oh-so-special day that celebrates love. If you’re scrambling for that perfect gift for your sweetheart, keep it simple and be retro-cool by creating your very own Valentine’s Day mixtape dedicated to the one that holds your heart.

While country music definitely has its share of stellar love songs, here are a few suggestions to help get you on your way to create the perfect soundtrack of love:

Chris Young - "You"

The smooth vocals of Chris Young are enough to make any girl swoon. Adding a slight old-school groove to it only enhances the allure. It’s a great way to start your mixtape on a lighter note…

Lady Antebellum - "Just a Kiss"

If you’re in a new-ish relationship that just might go the distance, this Lady A song is for you. Sometimes “just a kiss” and nothing more is all you need.

Alison Krauss - "When You Say Nothing at All"

A strong bond of love between two hearts needs no words and this is a perfect song to express that sentiment. If you’re an old-school country traditionalist, you might want to go with the Keith Whitley version of this sweet ballad, but you definitely can’t go wrong with Alison Krauss’ angelic rendition.

The Band Perry - "All Your Life"

According to The Band Perry, they have already seen many couples get engaged to the tune of this song when they play it live, so if you’re planning on popping the question this Valentine’s Day this is your tune.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill - "It's Your Love"

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have some pretty sexy duets in their repertoire but none better than their initial musical pairing “It’s Your Love.”  It’s a must for any Valentine’s Day mixtape.

Blake Shelton - "Who You Are When I'm Not Looking"

Sure, it’s easy to love someone when they’re all spiffed up and looking their best, but what about during the other times? You know when you’re sick or having a bad day? Blake Shelton wants to know all about those times and more in “Who You Are When I’m Not Looking.”

Rascal Flatts - "Bless the Broken Road"

The path to love isn’t easy and sometimes you have to walk the “broken road” in order to find the one you’re truly meant to be with. Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road” perfectly describes it.  And, for those single folks out there, it’s an important message to not give up. Your true love is out there!

Alan Jackson - "Remember When"

Alan Jackson and his wife Denise have been married 32 years. Despite their ups and downs, they’ve stuck it out through it all. This song is a reflection of how they built their life together. It’s so sweet and touching to think of Alan writing this song for his wife. It just might inspire you to attempt to do the same.
