Evacuation Order Partly Lifted in Dog Head Fire

SOME RESIDENTS FORCED OUT OF THEIR HOMES BY THE DOG HEAD FIRE ARE BEING ALLOWED TO GO HOME. THEY WERE ALLOWED BACK INTO THE HOMES STARTING AT 8:00 TUESDAY MORNING. OTHERS ARE STILL UNDER A MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER. FOR THOSE GOING HOME, PNM HAS ALREADY STARTED TURNING THE POWER BACK ON … SO THOSE WHO WERE USING BACK-UP GENERATORS ARE BEING TOLD TO TURN THEM OFF.
THE FIRE IS NOW 46 PERCENT CONTAINED … A VAST IMPROVEMENT OVER THE 9 PERCENT CONTAINMENT ON MONDAY … WHICH WAS EXCELLENT COMPARED TO THE ZERO PERCENT CONTAINMENT LAST WEEK. ROAD CLOSURES STILL IN PLACE INCLUDE RAQUEL ROAD FROM ESCABOSA SOUTH TO THE BERNALILLO COUNTY LINE.
TWENTY FOUR HOMES AND 21 SMALLER BUILDINGS WERE DESTROYED BY THIS FIRE … WHICH IS HUMAN-CAUSED AND STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
ANOTHER INFORMATIONAL MEETING IS BEING HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON AT 4:30 PM AT ROOSEVELT MIDDLE SCHOOL IN TIJERAS.
